Battle to Bring the CPC Movement to an End

Dear Friends,

NARAL Pro-Choice America (NARAL), in a recent e-mail to their supporters, acknowledged they are in a “battle to bring the CPC movement to an end.”1 Their goal is more than just regulating the speech and advertising of pregnancy centers – they want our ministries to go away entirely.

NARAL has a long history of influencing politicians. Also, they raise millions of dollars each year. Currently – and aggressively – they are using their influence and resources to orchestrate harmful legislation against pregnancy centers at the federal, state and local level. This is just one of many strategies used to accomplish their goal to end pregnancy center ministries.

Pregnancy centers do not have the funds and resources to match and combat the NARAL smear campaign. However, we can no longer allow NARAL to define who we are to our political leaders. That is why the Crisis Pregnancy Center of Tidewater (CPCOT) has been reaching out this year to our lawmakers. CPCOT has been visiting the offices of U.S. Senators and Representatives in Washington, D.C. as well as state legislators at our capital in Richmond, Va.

Our political leaders need to understand firsthand the impact and value of pregnancy centers in our communities. For this reason we invited women who have been helped by CPCOT to join us in these meetings. Their testimonies about the love and support they have received from our ministry quickly dispel the fallacious claims and accusations levied at us from NARAL.

Other pregnancy centers in our state and across the nation have been reaching out, too. Hopefully more will join us. Jumping into the political arena is overwhelming and seemingly outside of our calling. However, we cannot bury our heads in the sand and hope the attacks will stop.

I would encourage you to get involved, too. We need your support now more than ever. Please continue praying, volunteering and supporting this LIFE-saving, heart-sparing work. Also, you can be a voice. Call your representatives and let them know why you appreciate pregnancy centers. Click here to contact your congressperson or here to contact your senator.

Because the law of our land is so pro-abortion, NARAL needs something to fight about to continue raising funds, rally their base and justify their existence. Pregnancy centers are likely targets because we are effective in our mission and appear to be easy prey.

If NARAL reaches their goal to end the pregnancy center movement, it will only be because God allowed it. This is His work. However, if He chooses to further the ministry of pregnancy centers, NARAL does not have a chance for success. We will do our best, but our trust and hope rest in God.

For LIFE with you,

October Prayer Focus

PLEASE PRAY  CPC humbly requests that you pray for the following:

SILVER ANNIVERSARY BENEFIT BANQUET  The Annual Benefit Banquet is our largest fund-raiser of the year. Please pray:
  • for Sponsors and Table Hosts as they invite others to attend
  • that CPC’s support needs would be met
  • that God would use the banquet to open more hearts to the life-saving ministry of CPC
ABORTION RECOVERY MINISTRY  Pray for the women and families in this program, that they may find hope, healing and wholeness through Jesus Christ.

PROTECTION  This is an exciting, yet tumultuous time for CPCs across the nation. Pray for wisdom and courage to continue ministering boldly to women and families in need. We ask for God’s hand of protection and for His favor to rest on us.

SALVATION  God continues to work in the lives of the women and families we serve. Pray that as the gospel is shared, many would come to know redemption and freedom from the fear, guilt and shame our clients often share.

PRAY FOR CPC’S EXPECTANT MOTHERS & THEIR LITTLE ONES.

Their names* & due dates are listed below.
