LifeChange Changes Lives!

We need your help to meet our goal by the end of the year. CPC's annual goal for the LifeChange campaign is to have 100 participating churches or groups in order to meet our goal of $75,000. To date, we have had 44 participating churches or groups and have already raised $41,684.84! But we need to raise an additional 33,315.16!

LifeChange is a simple and effective way to raise the much-needed
funds that support women and families facing crisis-related pregnancies. Everyone has pocket change! All we ask is that instead of keeping it in your pocket, or spending it, you put it in a LifeChange baby bottle - investing it in a life-changing ministry. Oh, and collect everyone else's pocket change too! When your bottle is full, you're done! Any church or group can easily do this. And children especially love it!

Here's what a bottle of change means to our clients and their children:
  • 200 QUARTERS = one hour of ministry services to our clients
  • 48 DIMES = literature to women about alternatives to abortion
  • 50 NICKELS = one pregnancy test
  • 172 PENNIES = a Bible to those in need of hope
If your church or group has not yet participated this year in the LifeChange campaign, please consider this as a great way to show your support for the CPC ministry and help provide the funds that allow us to continue God's work!

To get started today, please contact Pamela Tanner at ptanner@cpcot.org, or call 757-410-9703.

Could the Largest Provider of Abortions Be In Charge of Your Students' Health Care?

by Sheena McAdoo

A little-known provision in the health care reform legislation would create sweeping changes to our nation's public schools and put students at risk of receiving "health services" by none other than the largest provider of abortions in the U.S., Planned Parenthood.

The House version of health care reform legislation, H.R. 3200, contains a provision near the end entitled "School-Based Health Clinics" (Section 2511, pp. 992-1000). According to the legislation (p. 999), federal grants will be awarded to "sponsoring facilities," which may include a community health center, a nonprofit health care agency, or even a local educational agency. Under this description, Planned Parenthood would certainly qualify as a sponsoring facility to provide "health care" to your children in school.

These school-based health clinics will provide "comprehensive primary health services and additional health services" (p. 994), which may include "age-appropriate health education services" (p. 998). This language, as the American Center for Law and Justice puts it "leaves wide open the possibility that Planned Parenthood's federally-funded school-based health clinics would be permitted to provide abortion services."

Furthermore, the bill also assures that federal HIPAA guidelines will be adhered to (p. 993), which may mean that no information may be shared with parents unless the student authorizes it. Therefore, parental rights may be usurped under the guise of "patient privacy." As stated by the American Family Association, parents may "never know what kind of counsel and medical treatment their child has received by the time he gets home from school."

Act Today:
Please contact your Senators and Representatives and urge them to oppose H.R. 3200 and any other health care proposal which provides for Planned Parenthood to be given any authority to set up school-based health clinics in America's public schools, paid for with our tax dollars.

"Having My Rapist's Baby is the Best Thing I Ever Did"

A British policewoman, Miraim Virgo, is now sharing her story with the world. At 19, she was drugged and raped. After discovering she was pregnant, she decided to abort. However, she had a last minute change of heart as she says God gave her a "rush of love" for her baby...moments before her scheduled abortion.

Please Pray for our Campaign 575

CPC plans to convert the Keim Center of Virginia Beach into a medical clinic offering life-affirming ultrasound. In order to have the funds to operate this new medical clinic, we need to have 575 pregnancy center ministry hours sponsored each month. With ultrasound, many abortion-vulnerable women are empowered to make positive life-affirming decisions. A second medical clinic would serve to greatly increase our efforts to reach out to more women in the community showing them a window into their wombs. Please pray with us that God would extend His grace toward this ministry and allow us to achieve this goal.

Abortion Mandate Remains in Health Care

by Sheena McAdoo

Last Wednesday evening, President Obama spoke to a joint session of Congress on health care reform. While he again claimed that "no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions," many are disputing the truth of this statement. Several reports have since been released reinforcing the fact that in the current legislative proposals abortion will in fact be provided and payed for with government funds.
Below are a few of the main points validating the fact that abortion clearly is included in the current health care reform proposals:

Even FactCheck.org stated recently that "Despite what Obama said, the House bill would allow abortions to be covered by a federal plan and by federally subsidized private plans."

Please click on the voided check image or go to http://www.stoptheabortionmandate.com/ for an extensive analysis as well as multiple resources to help you spread the word and take action to put a stop to government-funded abortion. Please share this information with your pastor, church, family and friends.

Please contact your Senators and Representatives urging them to remove the abortion mandate by explicitly excluding abortion coverage and adding conscience protections for health care providers. Any health care legislation that is passed without removing this abortion mandate will usher in the most massive expansion of abortion on demand since Roe v. Wade.

A Donation to CPC from an Angel?

Here's an easy way to earn some proceeds for the Crisis Pregnancy Center!! All it takes is some collaboration of our family, friends, CPC supporters and church members! The "Cutest Dog Contest" has twelve weekly winners, and then a chance to be voted the cutest of all twelve at the end of the contest. Each weekly winner gets $500, but once a weekly winner, there is a chance of winning $1,000,000, if chosen the "top dog." Imagine what CPC could do with that?!

This contest is won by the mass number of popular votes; nothing more, nothing less. Each week begins a new contest until the conclusion of all twelve weeks. I DO have a "cute little dog" ... you will all surely agree! :-) Each voter can vote once daily, with the goal to rack up more votes than any other pooch pictured.

Having worked with CPC for a number of years, first as a volunteer, and more recently a member of the Board, I will gladly donate the proceeds of this contest to the work of this most valuable ministry. So, let's get on board, and circulate this contest in everyway we know how! Let's pray that Angel can bring CPC some good ministry resources in this economic challenging time!

Blessings,
Joan Benson

Client Rejects Abortion, Chooses Life!

A young woman recently visited one of our Keim Centers with the intention of having an abortion if pregnant. Although the baby's father supported her having the baby, that was not enough. She was scared to tell her parents and face their disappointment. And she was overwhelmed with the thought of just beginning a new phase in her life which she was excited about. A baby just did not fit into her plans. Because of these pressures, she felt that abortion was what she "had to do."

After discussing her pregnancy options with her Advocate and learning of the emotional impact abortion may have, as well as fetal development, this young woman decided that she could not go through with an abortion. The couple is now making plans for the arrival of their baby with the support of their family.

Thank you for your faithful support of this life-affirming ministry! Please pray for this and other clients who are facing extremely difficult pressures to abort that they remain steadfast in their decisions to choose life for their little ones.

"Killing Girls Is Bad, Killing Boys Is Okay"

A special report by The American Spectator examines the moral connection between the infanticide of baby girls with sex-selection abortion: "If sex-based infanticide and abortion are morally equivalent, then non-discriminatory infanticide and abortion should be morally equivalent as well....The problem is not sex selection abortion. The problem is abortion."

Her Next Call May be to an Abortion Clinic

When a woman calls our Helpline, it is critical that someone is on the other end to answer. Most likely, if that phone call goes unanswered, she will hang up and call the next number on her list. Too often, that number will be the local abortion clinic.

Our goal at the CPC call center is to have every Helpline call answered. Often times, just hearing a warm and caring voice is what brings comfort and reassurance to a woman seeking real help and real answers.

We recently received a phone call from a woman seeking the abortion pill. However, after discovering that we neither provide nor refer for abortion, she was grateful instead to find someone to talk to who would listen to her concerns. She came to the Keim Center and found a place of peace. As a result, in spite of her overwhelming circumstances, she has decided against the abortion pill and is now excitedly making plans for her baby's arrival!

CPC's Helpline has become a lifeline for so many women. Lives are literally hanging in the balance. Having a live person to answer the Helpline when a woman calls often means the difference between life and death for one more baby.

We have a critical need for more trained Helpline workers. Please consider allowing God to use you in a simple, yet powerful, way to touch the hearts of women in need. Will you answer the call?

Our next Volunteer Training begins September 15th! Register now and get involved in a life-changing ministry!

UN Report Recommends Promoting Abortion to Children as Young as 9

The United Nations is recommending universal mandatory sex education for children as young as five years old.* The U.N.'s Economic, Social and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) released a 98-page report in June, called the "International Guidelines for Sexuality Education."

This report offers a universal lesson plan for kids ranging in age from 5-18, which includes plans to explain to children as young as nine about the safety of legal abortions, and to advocate and "promote the right to and access to safe abortion" for everyone over the age of 15.

"You Just Saved Another Life"

This was a quote from one of our recent Keim Center clients, Rhonda.*

Pressured by her father and her boyfriend to have an abortion and overwhelmed with the thought of providing for another infant, Rhonda found herself crying as she talked with her Keim Center advocate. She was scared about abortion.

Her ultrasound revealed she was nine weeks pregnant. Seeing the little images helped Rhonda decide to keep her baby. She delivered her son several months ago. Rhonda now delights in her new child and is thankful that The Keim Center was there for her and her son.

If you sense God calling you to minister to young women in crisis like Rhonda, please consider becoming a client advocate. You can make a difference in the lives of others for eternity. Volunteer Training is starting soon, please call today to register!
