WFL Spotlight: Joanna Pepper

Joanna Pepper (left) is hosting another
iPad raffle this year!
Joanna Pepper proclaims she’s not a natural fundraiser, so she found an innovative way to raise funds for CPC’s Walk for Life. And she’s at it again this year.

“What gave me the idea for a raffle? It just sort of popped into my head one day,” Joanna shared. “Inspiration? Maybe! There are people who are such natural fund raisers, but I am not one of them! I despise asking people for money! But, I was not satisfied with the few hundred dollars I raised in 2011. So, I had my wheels spinning on ways to raise funds without feeling like I was pestering people.”

After she received an iPad for a gift, she knew she had a winning idea. Instead of simply asking for donations, she’d sell tickets and raffle a great prize that appealed to a wide audience. So she sought out a donor to purchase an iPad, printed tickets and found a fundraising solution that worked for her.

“The look on the winner's face last year was priceless! He had bought a ticket at the last minute the day of the walk at the zoo,” Joanna recalled.

So why does she go to all this work to raise funds?

“I was asked in my college Biology course to pick a medical issue that has moral connotations and use Scripture to support my stance on that issue. I chose abortion,” Joanna remembered. “Aside from the overwhelming scientific evidence that a new being is formed at the moment of conception, when I researched what the Bible had to say, I had an 'ah ha' moment. How can I not be compelled to action in defense of the unborn?”

“Honestly, seeing women and their children that have been impacted by CPC is the thing that keeps me involved in the ministry,” Joanna said. “The tangible evidence of the fruit of the ministry encourages me to no end. Also, I have been encouraged in the fact that persistence in my personal fundraising efforts seems to yield results as well. More money is raised every year without that much more asking!”

If you’d like to help Joanna raise funds to save lives, you can email her at kennyandjoanna@gmail.com to participate in this year’s raffle for a black 16GB iPad 4 with an Ematic 10-in-1 accessory kit. (Total value for the iPad and accessory kit is $550, which was donated anonymously.) Raffle tickets are $10 each and a limit of 150 will be sold.

Letter from the President

Toby DeBause and Jenny "The Jewel" JensonDear friends,

Jenny “The Jewel” Jenson is one of the most remarkable people I’ve ever met. Not only has she been the top walker for the Walk for Life for the last four years, but she has a capacity for love and expressing kindness that is unparalleled by most. She is also a relentless intercessor who will never give up in praying you through any challenge. I am grateful she is my friend.

Jenny’s parents are remarkable, too. Ron and Cherry are in the group of less than ten percent of parents who chose life for their children after receiving a prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome. I am so grateful the Jenson’s chose life for Jenny or this world would have been robbed of a great blessing.
Jenny "The Jewel" Jenson

Although Jenny has a long-standing hold on the “Top Walker” title, she would gladly give up that title to see someone raise more money than she does. She knows how important the Walk for Life is to pre-born babies and their moms. Become a fund-raising walker and take a shot at Jenny’s title. She would love to see you at one of the Walk for Life events this year. Be warned! If you get too close to her, you will get hugged!

For LIFE,
Toby DeBause, President

It takes less than a minute...

One Saturday morning could truly change our community.

It's no coincidence the number of abortions in South Hampton Roads has dropped as more men and women are reached with a message of LIFE. But how many more need these words of hope?

Now is YOUR TIME to make a difference for LIFE!

Introduce your friends, family and other acquaintances to the heart-sparing, life-saving ministry of Crisis Pregnancy Center of Tidewater by inviting them to join us at the PRE-WALK RALLY on Saturday, March 9th at New Life Providence Church's Kempsville location at 9 a.m.

It may seem small, but your outreach can have a huge impact. And the more individuals who hear what they can do to SAVE LIVES, the bigger impact we can all make. Together.

February Prayer Focus

Pray for CPC's expectant mothers and their little ones.
PLEASE PRAY   CPC humbly requests your intentional prayer for:

HEARTS FOR THE GOSPEL   Please pray for our Heavenly Father to open the hearts of our clients to welcome and receive the Gospel. Pray His words guide our tongues, leading to an eternal impact in what we share. And pray that once these precious clients accept the Good News, they will become so rooted in the Gospel that enemy won’t distract and take away the seeds that have been planted. (Matthew 13).

ABORTION RECOVERY MINISTRY   Every day many post-abortive women live in fear, shame and guilt. Their voice has been silenced by this secret which affects every part of their lives. Jesus came to bring us LIFE. He died for ALL sin and exchanged our shame for His glory. He bore our guilt and by His stripes we are healed. Our hope is to bring healing through CPC’s abortion recovery ministry. Please pray that women and men overcome fear, shame and guilt as they find freedom at the cross.
