PLEASE PRAY   CPC humbly requests your intentional prayer for:

FUNDRAISING WALKERS   Pray for every individual who is raising funds for CPC’s Walk for Life – we are praying boldly for 1,000 fundraising walkers to join us this year! Pray for their courage and assurance as they interact with others. Also pray for their protection and encouragement as they fellowship with others.

NEW CLIENT OUTREACH   Please pray for a special new client outreach we hope to be able to share with you soon. Pray for this ministry to reach more women and families who are at risk for abortion with a message of truth and hope.

Letter from the President

Dear friends,

Every picture of a mother and child in the spring/summer newsletter (and all of our materials) are actual clients and babies served by this ministry. These pictures, as cute and happy as they typically look, do not tell all of their stories. What some of these women and families suffer through will break your heart … to say the least.

One woman we served recently (not pictured) shared that her father had threatened to torture her and harm her to the point of killing her unborn child if she did not have an abortion. Such an outrageous statement is hard to believe, but it’s true.

This young woman has since taken the precautions to protect herself from her father and she boldly continues to prepare for the birth of her little one. We are grateful to be a part of her life and help her navigate through this tumultuous situation.

Last year we served 1,746 women, and so far this year we’ve served hundreds more. Although not every woman faces extreme abuse like the one I mention here, every woman we serve is facing her own unique challenges. Jesus loves these women as much as He does their children. Instead of judging them for considering abortion, it’s vital that we take the time to hear their stories and help them navigate toward life-affirming solutions.

I am thankful for the staff, volunteers, churches, LIFEkeepers, fundraising walkers and everyone who supports this ministry. Because of God’s work through you, these women have someone to tell their stories to and get the critical support they need.

Real Life: Mecca's Story

Mecca had just attended the wedding and college graduation of her daughter. When she learned she was pregnant again, she was shocked. Here is her story, in her own words.

“I was looking for something that was familiar to me, like Planned Parenthood, but all roads led to The

Keim Centers. Every free pregnancy testing search I did online, The Keim Centers showed up, so I figured that would be the best solution for me.”

“Upon entering the center, the first thing I noticed was the serenity of the place. It was peace there. Not judgmental. No condemnation. I came to the conclusion that despite not having a sustainable income, no vehicle, just lost my home and had no idea how I was going to recover from a complete loss, I would keep the child.”

“[During the ultrasound, I] watched the baby’s heartbeat and could clearly see all his limbs were there. It was a very emotional time.”

“Once born, the doctor announced he was asphyxiated [and] they showed me a gray baby at the same time. My spirit audibly called out the name of Jesus. He had no heart beat, was not breathing and they did not know how long he had been like that. [When] I was able to see him in the NICU, he looked horrible. I had no idea what to do and asked God for direction. It was what I learned in [Great Expectations parenting] classes that I leaned on for guidance on what to do to help him transition from the hospital to home in 7 days. Surely he is a miracle child, but the God I serve knows all things.”

“Initially, I was thinking abortion. I have had several abortions before, so I was very familiar with the process, but in my spirit, I knew it was wrong. In my head, I was screaming abortion ... yet there was another side that was not as loud, that said you can do it. It’s that voice that lead me to The Keim Centers. A place I never heard of and didn’t even know how to pronounce, but I knew this was a place I could go to and get help from someone who had nothing to gain nor lose by my decision.”

Walk for Life Fundraising Tips

• Set a personal fundraising goal – the higher the goal, the more you’ll raise! (Put yourself in the place of a friend or family member – would you donate more to a friend if his goal was $200 or $2,000? People want to support you and the things you support, so setting a high goal shows ambition, commitment and determination to a cause you believe in!)

• Donate to yourself – others will appreciate that you are devoting both your time and your own finances.

• Contact everyone who donated to you last year – thank them for their gift and ask for their support again. Ask for a specific amount; if they can’t donate that much they will offer what they can.

• Be enthusiastic when asking for pledges – let people know their money makes a difference in the lives of moms, dads and babies!

• Start early – the sooner you start asking for donations, the more money you will raise. As soon as you register, get organized and start asking!

• Personalize your fund-raising webpage by adding your own text, pictures or video – remember, your potential donors will be interested in the cause, but they are primarily interested in you. Make sure you tell them why you’re getting involved and how you’re connected to CPC. (It doesn’t have to be long.)
• Let your donors know their donations are tax deductible.

How to Raise $1,500 in Three Weeks

(Your ticket to the President’s Club Tides Game Outing!)

Week 1:
• Start by making a pledge to yourself for $50.
• Send out a letter or email to at least 30 friends and acquaintances asking for a minimum pledge of $25. If just half of those contacts come through at $25, you will have raised $375. 
• Send a few direct messages to some Facebook friends: 4 friends come through at $25 each. 
• Post your fund-raising webpage link on Facebook asking for a $5 pledge: 5 friends come through at $5 each. 

Week 1 = $550

Week 2:  

• Ask 5 relatives for a minimum pledge of $25.
• Set up a matching challenge! Personally ask a generous donor if he’ll give $100 if you secure 4 friends who will pledge to you for a minimum donation of $25 each.
• Ask 5 neighbors to pledge to you for a minimum donation of $20 each. (Last year, one of CPC’s top walkers raised most of her funds by going door to door asking for pledges!

Week 2 = $425

TOTAL = $975

 Week 3:
• Ask 5 other relatives for a minimum pledge of $25. 
• Ask 8 co-workers to pledge to you for a minimum donation of $25. 
• Ask your boss to pledge to your for $50. 
• Ask 3 local merchants (like your hair salon, favorite bakery or restaurant and gym you frequent) to pledge $50 each.

Week 3 = $525

TOTAL = $1,500

Don’t forget to follow up on your efforts - some people need a gentle reminder! Remember, the number one way to raise funds is by personally asking for pledges from the people you know. It’s easier to ask for a pledge than to ask for money!

March Prayer Focus

PLEASE PRAY   CPC humbly requests your intentional prayer for:

 

WALK FOR LIFE AMBASSADORS   Pray for many individuals to get involved in CPC’s Walk for Life as ambassadors in their churches. Pray for the local body of Christ to come to the aid of the least of these (Matthew 25) and speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves (Proverbs 31:8a) – innocent, pre-born babies. We pray for a renewed passion for LIFE to grow within South Hampton Roads that will motivate churches to participate in Walk for Life.

 

PRESIDENT OF CPC   First Timothy 2:1-3 gives us a guide of how we are to pray for our leaders. Please join us in the opportunity to pray for the president of CPC, Toby DeBause. Pray for the Holy Spirit to give him personal direction, teaching and vision. Pray for all effects of tiredness and discouragement to be removed from his mind and body. Pray for angels to go before him and battle on his behalf as protection for his family from spiritual attack.
